Are you over 18, full of enthusiasm and energy, and want to help some of the most vulnerable refugees on Lesvos? Then we need you!
The Lava Project is a laundry project working for residents of the new refugee camp in Lesvos, formerly working for residents of Moria Camp.
The project was founded in June 2019 by volunteers to assist healthcare NGOs in providing treatment for scabies and other medical conditions developed in unsanitary living conditions. We concentrate on medical cases and other particularly vulnerable groups in the camp. We’re currently washing clothing and bedding for advanced scabies patients, unaccompanied minors who lived in Moria’s Safe Zone, and doctors for Medecins Sans Frontieres, and washing winter clothing donated to our partner organizations before they’re distributed.
Our team consists of international volunteers as well as volunteers from the camps, making sure we serve our community however we can.
